About us

Nestled in the heart of Aughton, just a short walk away from Aughton Park Station, The Dog and Gun Inn dates back to 1891 with many orgiginal features still evidnet throughout the Pub. In February 2024, the pub handed the keys over to new operators Francine and Mark who only live a stones throw from the pub. From that point, the pub has risen to new heights with stunning food offerings, a vast range of entertainment including a weekly Quiz, Live Music, Pyschic Nights, Bingo, Themed Nights and Family Fun Days.

We are Dog Friendly (Bar Only) and also offer a Dog Menu so our furry friends don’t feel left out. There is ample seating at the front and the rear of the pub which are fully utilised during those Summer Days/Evenings.

There is an extensive range of premium lagers, cider and cask ale on offer.

Here at the Dog & Gun Inn, we pride ourselves on delivering qaulity food supplied by local farms and butchers. Our experienced chefs pride themselves on cooking fresh produce to ensure high standards are always maintained. Our latest EHO rating was carried out in August 2024 when we were presenetd with a 5 star rating!

We are so lucky to have the wonderful gem of a pub as our local from the wonderful welcome from the friendly staff to the excellent service the quality of the food which never disappoints and the Sunday Lunch which is simply the best you need to book it’s very popular ⭐️ there has been different licensees over the years but I feel Francine and her team are are spot on what they are trying to to achieve a really lovely local traditional pub for the locals and visitors with a great atmosphere quality food and wonderful staff what more could you want let’s support them as much as we can

The food was really nice. We enjoyed the quiz with some unique rounds. Great atmosphere as the pub was full which just speaks to the venue

After a stressful event in a nearby town, we walked away and found ourselves at "The Dog and Gun". The service was faultless, no pressure to pay up front, as a "Tab" was set up for us. The food.... My sister opted for "Light Bite" Haddock and chips, and I chose the Steak and Blue Cheese Pie. Quite a fair wait for it's arrival, but when it arrived My WORD! Well worth it, Delicious, and let's say I felt like I needed not eat for a couple of more days! Cannot recommend this place any higher than "Top Class"! Staff and service lovely, and I will most certainly be returning soon. ( And they even have a menu for Dogs!!!)

Booked a table for me & the wife after hearing such good things about here recently & it did not disappoint! Both our meals were delicious & pipping hot, you could tell everything was freshly made on site unlike a lot of pubs these days! The staff who were on were so lovely & friendly you just picked up a very good vibe of a good team, brilliant atmosphere & can't wait to visit again very soon. Thank you for a lovely relaxed evening
